What is a Super Bill?

What you need if you want to work with your insurance company

Foggy Morning Therapy is an out-of-network provider, meaning we do not accept insurance. However, we do offer superbills, which are itemized receipts of the services you’ve received and paid for each month.

The superbill includes the information needed for insurance including service billing codes and your diagnosis. You will submit the super bill to your insurance company and any reimbursement will be given to you directly by your insurance company.

If you need guidance submitting a superbill to your insurance, I would be glad to walk you through the initial steps. If this sounds overwhelming, it is actually a very common practice among mental health professionals and once explained, is a very simple process!

01

Do you accept insurance?

Foggy Morning is Private Pay only

Foggy Morning Therapy is a private-pay therapy practice, meaning we do not accept insurance. Payment for each session is collected at the time of service. Even though we do not accept insurance, you can utilize "out-of-network" reimbursement benefits if offered by your insurance provider.

We can provide a monthly superbill that you can submit to your insurance provider yourself for potential reimbursement. Depending on the type of insurance policy you have, you might be able to be reimbursed a percentage of the cost of the session. Please contact your insurance company to verify your benefits.

03

Benefits of Private Pay

Benefits of Being Out of Network

I understand the cost of care can be overwhelming. However, I choose to be a private pay provider so that I can provide the best care to you or your child with flexibility and privacy by working with an optimal treatment plan. I can tailor your or your child’s therapy to your specific needs without an insurance company telling us how long your sessions can be, how often you can be seen, or what type of therapy you receive.

I maintain privacy and am not required to send your insurance company any information regarding a diagnosis or the nature of the therapy services. Sensitive information does not become a part of your or your child’s permanent medical record. (This changes if you prefer to use your out-of-network benefits via a superbill.)

02

Why don't you accept insurance?

You should be in control of your mental health

Primarily, I want to focus on you and your mental health without concentrating on what diagnosis the insurance company needs.

Did you know:

  • Insurance companies require a mental health diagnosis during the initial session to cover costs.

  • This diagnosis may remain on your or your child’s medical record forever.

  • Occasionally, a clinical diagnosis on your, or your child’s, insurance can result in an unfair disadvantage in obtaining life, medical, or disability insurance.

  • Insurance companies could have access to sensitive information shared in session (i.e. sexual history, drug use, child behavioral concerns). Confidentiality is critical to therapy and it may be compromised by using your insurance.

  • Insurance companies control how often, for how long, and even if you may see a (particular) therapist.

As a provider of mental health services, I strive to be a part of the solution. I wholeheartedly believe YOU should be in control of your or your child’s mental health services.

02

How long will I be in therapy?

Typical therapy duration

Great question! There is not a straightforward answer. Therapy duration depends on each individual person—your or your child’s mental health needs, availability, and engagement in the process. Therapy duration is an ongoing conversation we will have together as we discuss your goals and progress.

03

What if I have to cancel?

Cancelation & Missing Sessions Policy

I get it!  Life can be unpredictable. However, our time together is valuable.  As a result, appointments canceled or rescheduled without 24-hour notice will be charged a $75 cancelation fee. This includes "no show" or missed appointments. If you need to cancel or reschedule a session and you give 24-hour advance notice, the cancelation fee will be waived.

Please note: **Monday and Sunday appointments must be canceled by 12 noon on the previous Friday.

Adult & Teens Intake Appointment
Child Intake Appointment

These forms should be filled out before the intake appointment to ensure we have an efficient intake appointment.

A get to know you session - share your story, express your concerns, and discuss your therapy goals. I will ask questions to better understand your background, including your personal history, current challenges, and any symptoms you may be experiencing.

An appointment where I get to know your kid through your eyes and gather pertinent information to initiate the assessment process and create an environment for open effective therapy.

The Intake appointment is for parent(s) only.  This is so we can have an open and candid dialogue about what you are experiencing while protecting your child from the candid conversation.  This appointment can be in-person or virtual.

First, fill out the inquiry form on this site and then you will receive a pre-intake email.
